Work team

He is one of the most recognized leaders in structural engineering in Costa Rica, specializing in three major areas: concrete technology, prestressing of concrete structures, and bridge design. He graduated from the University of Costa Rica with a degree in Civil Engineering in 1989, where he also completed a Master of Science in Structural Engineering. Then, he pursued to take specialization courses and internships in countries such as the United States, Mexico, France, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, among others.

Carlos Fernandez has been the director of projects that have contributed significantly to the development of the country, such as: The Structural Modeling for the Restructuring of the National Theater of Costa Rica, The Rehabilitation and Expansion of the Alfredo González Flores Bridge, The Design and Structural Inspection of the Reinforcement for the Support Gates and Anchord Gates of the Pirrís Hydroelectric Project, The Analysis and Design of the Parrita and Naranjo bridges of post-tensioned concrete beams with 60 meters continuous spans, The design of the bridge over the Tárcoles River as part of the works of the Chucás Hydroelectric Project in Balsa de Atenas.

In addition to his primary job functions, he has been recognized for his commitment as a member of the Permanent Commission for the Study and Revision of the Costa Rican Seismic Code of 2010. Furthermore, he has published several articles for the Structural Engineering Seminars of the Colegio Federado de Ingenieros y Arquitectos, among them: Utilization of High Performance Concrete (CAD) in the Design and Construction of Bridges (2002). In addition, he has been a professor at the Universidad de Costa Rica for more than 30 years.

The projects and research in which he has taken part reflect the knowledge and experience he has acquired throughout his professional career.

Ing. José Manuel Camacho Castro

José Manuel Camacho is a well-known civil engineer with expertise in this area. His vocational training began in Costa Rica when he graduated from the Universidad de Costa Rica in Civil Engineering in 1982. Later, he broadened his knowledge abroad by pursuing a Master of Science in Structural Engineering at The Ohio State University, in 1984. He has qualifications in the area of ​​transportation at the Institute for Transportation Studies at The University of California at Berkeley in 1982 and in ports and harbours from Japan in 1990 at the Ports & Harbours Research Institute. As part of his resume, he worked as structural and ports engineer in Denmark in 1993 and he has been a professor at Universidad de Costa Rica for xx years.

His work and study trajectory allowed him to acquire vast experience and specialization in diferent types of civil infrastructure such as ports and fluvial works, railway works, civil aviation, technical auditing, allowing him to start his own company, Camacho y Mora, in 2002. With more than 35 years of experience, he has been the director of important projects nationally and internationally, as for example: Master Plan for the Caldera Port Terminal in Puntarenas, The Study of the optimization of piles design loads of the Taiwanese Dock Multipurpose Terminal, The Metropolitan Stations of the Costa Rican Fire Department, and The Prefeasibility and Feasibility Studies for the Construction of the Port of Bluefields in Nicaragua.
